What is Celux? Tyler Brule, columnist for the Financial Times and founder of Wallpaper and Monocle magazines, has called ‘Celux in Tokyo, possibly the world’s most exclusive, members-only shop’. In the New Publication by Frame Magazine ‘Dress Code’, Matthew Stewart says “Celux is quite possibly the world’s pre-eminent luxury retail experience.
Located on the top four floors of the Louis Vuitton building in Omotesando
Tokyo, this members only club offers a lounge and shopping zone for
a highly exclusive clientele.
The rare fashion and home items that are available to the guests are
specifically designed by the 12 fashions houses found under the LVMH
umbrella.
The principle architectural intervention was to link both major levels
spatially and commercially, creating a background for the ever-changing
seasons of products on display. Product display was concentrated on
the two longitudinal elevations, extending the full height of the
vertical planes.
One of the keys was to break the connotations of Luxury and Fashion
by breaching the expected traditional use of Architectural materials
and their placement. Custom materials, furniture and light fixtures
with industry leaders were developed specifically for this project.
